Welcome and pardon the retro guildelines here. Content > Aesthetics. For those who are new to the forums we have set up we are posting some guidelines below. These are acceptable usage rules for posting and replying to messages. As these are guidelines, the admins have the final ruling on whether action needs to be taken or not. Preamble: Some common activities we have seen on other forums which we will not tolerate here. Posts that are advertisements or which are set up to increase a click-through rate for affiliate profiteering are not acceptable. Spamming a forum, flaming, cross-posting or posting a message which is not relevent to the genre of the sub-forum is not conducive to using the site. If you ask for people to email you when you could post/reply with the information then you are wasting everyone's time. Being abusive and causing a disturbance which sabotages the site will not be tolerated. With all that in mind we would like to say that we love users who post. If you can answer people's questions in an authoritative and accurate manner then you will be held in high regard. Functional and detailed posts with useful information are always welcomed. 1) Before you post requests or a new subject check to see if the subject hasn't already been raised. If there is a question which has already been asked then there is no point in asking the same question again. People will help you out here if you give them time. If no one knows the answer then repeating another post won't magically create an answer. The search function on the forums is your friend. 2) Please do not advertise your websites in posts. You can put it in a signature line if it's not something which overwhelms the post. Do not solicit people to purchase anything either. If people need to, they have the whole internet to find a site for what they want. 3) Try to refrain from using all-caps (this is considered shouting). It only annoys people and is considered rude. Excessive punctuation or symbols in the subject / name / description lines are also annoying and quite unnecessary. Please refrain from pissing people off. 4) Post on the appropriate forum. There are several boards with a variety of topics they cover. If a post is on the wrong board then the admins will either move it to the correct forum, or delete it. Don't expect the admins to keep you appraised of their actions. We want to keep the site's quality of content high and relevant for people looking for information. Answering an "off-topic" post only contributes to the proliferation of watering the site's usefulness down. 5) Don't complain to us about somebody's postings if they are on topic. If you have a problem with a specific person, then contact them. 6) Please do not reply to messages with just an empty message. Those messages WILL be deleted, and it probably takes you more time to put in your name then it takes us to remove them. 7) No one on here will hack accounts for you, not even for money, or if it involves your wife cheating on you, your dog being kidnapped, or someone being a really annoying mofo. 8) All posts here are the author's view and opinions and statements. If you have a problem with a post, take it up with the person posting the message. Profanity should be kept at a minimum, if used at all. Repeatedly disrespectful, name-calling, profanity laced Posts against another person or Admin will not be tolerated and can be deleted without explanation. We all have common sense, let's use it. 9) Please do enjoy the site! We try to offer a place where knowledge can be exchanged. We all started somewhere, and if no one had helped us, we wouldn't know what we know today. Information should be free, and remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question. 10) The admin's have the final say on posts. Any admin can remove a post that may be deemed inappropriate. They are not required to respond to any request asking why their post was deleted. 11) Maintain a valid email address so you can be contacted. A valid email address is required so please be advised that if you do not provide a valid email address, and you violate any forum rules, your account may be deleted. If you get a new email address, please update your account here to reflect the new address. 12) Have Fun !! ---* Frosty Sotmesc
